AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course
This 24-hour course introduces the habits that help you travel more deliberately in avalanche terrain: planning a tour, reading the forecast, identifying avalanche terrain, making observations, communicating with your group, and practicing companion rescue.

AIARE Level 2 Avalanche Course
AIARE 2 takes the process you learned in AIARE 1 and applies it to more complex terrain, weather, and snowpack problems. You will practice making observations, reducing uncertainty, and helping lead a small group through real backcountry decisions.
AIARE’s Avalanche Rescue one-day (8-hour) course is a required pre-requisite and therefore included in our AIARE 2 for your convenience: Avalanche Rescue is intended to be retaken on a regular basis in order to keep abreast of best practices in rescue techniques and gear.
