Getting to the Hut

Trail 151

The hut is best accessed via a 3-mile hike on trail 151 from the top of duck creek pass. Most vehicles can access this trailhead (does not require high clearance and 4x4 during summer months).

This trail is perfect for mountain biking!

High Clearance Vehicles

Open only in the summer, there is a rough 4x4 road that follows the Baldy ridgeline for nearly 2 miles. This may shorten the hiking approach to walking a defunct FS road for 1-mile, but be warned this road requires high clearance 4x4 vehicles (more than a Subaru).

We recommend trail 151 because it is better maintained (and more scenic)!
